In Ibaraki Prefecture, a marathon event is held in which participants run a 100-kilometer course on the shores of Lake Kitaura while enjoying the spring scenery and special products.

282 people from all over the country participated in this marathon, which was the fifth time this year, and started all at once from the community center in Namegata City, Ibaraki Prefecture at 5 am.



In the marathon, a 100-kilometer course was set up on the shores of Lake Kitaura in the southeastern part of Ibaraki Prefecture, and runners enjoyed the spring scenery of the lake as they ran.

At 16 water supply points, sweets made with locally produced green peppers and pickled shallots were prepared for the runners to enjoy while taking a break.

According to the organizers of the event, it is necessary to reach the goal by 7:00 pm on the 12th in order to complete the marathon, but nearly 80% finished last year.



A woman in her 40s who participated from Tokyo said, "I participated last year as well, but I want to enjoy running with the goal of breaking the record of 10 hours at that time."
