The third line of the XV of France Anthony Jelonch, victim of a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee during the match of the Blues against Scotland in the Six Nations Tournament, was operated on Monday morning, learned AFP from of the entourage of his club, Stade Toulousain.

After his terrible injury against Scotland on the third day of the Six Nations Tournament, Anthony Jelonch will be operated on.

The third line of the XV of France suffers from a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee.

The 26-year-old, whose participation in the World Cup (September 8-October 28) is compromised by this serious injury, had to wait for his knee to deflate before having surgery.

His recovery is estimated at around six months.

Scrum half Gauthier Doubrère, his former teammate at Castres, posted a photo on his Instagram account on Monday showing Jelonch in a hospital room, on an armchair and with his left leg outstretched.

"The little one is fine!", Wrote in legend the 27-year-old Gersois, ex-teammate of Jelonch in Auch.

"Thank you for your support, today starts a new fight for me," Jelonch wrote on his Instagram account last week.

19 appointments under Galthié

On February 26 at the Stade de France against Scotland, Jelonch (25 caps) was released after a quarter of an hour of play, replaced by his club partner François Cros.

A few minutes earlier, he had already left the field on concussion protocol, after receiving a shoulder blow to the face from Scottish second line Grant Gilchrist.

Gilchrist, who had received a red card for this gesture, was suspended Monday for the rest of the Tournament.

Close to captain Antoine Dupont, Jelonch is a senior player in the XV of France.

He started the three matches of the 2023 VI Nations Tournament in the shoes of a holder.

Since the arrival of Fabien Galthié in 2020, he has also started nineteen matches as a starter, despite competition in the third row, alongside Grégory Alldritt, François Cros or Charles Ollivon.

Galthié's men dominated Italy (29-24) then fell in Ireland (32-19) before recovering in front of Scotland (32-21).

They meet England at Twickenham on Saturday afternoon, on behalf of the 4th day of the Tournament.
