It was an eventful race that opened this year's edition of Indycar.

Several crashes and car problems paved the way for a Swedish victory, when Marcus Ericsson was first across the finish line.

- Marcus had a fantastic weekend.

Above all, he qualified well, which laid the foundation for winning, which he then did, says SVT's expert Fredrik Ekblom.

The fact that the first race of the year was so eventful, Ekblom believes, may partly be due to a bit of nerves at the start of the season, but also a bit of overload.

- It was cow release in the Indycar series.

Everyone wanted to be first into the first corner.

There are many who are sitting on good material, and have the opportunity to win the races, and there were a little too many who wanted a little too much.

"Marcus shows coolness"

Ericsson managed without car problems and crashes, but Ekblom does not want to dismiss it as just the Swede's luck.

- I think Marcus showed coolness the whole race and gave up the fights that were good to give up, while he resisted the times he needed to resist.

Then he pressed Pato (O'ward) and we don't know exactly what happened.

Maybe he missed a gear, Marcus keyed in and there were only a few laps to go.

A bit of luck, perhaps, but not only, he says.

The other Swede in the field, Felix Rosenqvist, was 19th over the finish line after getting into a tight spot in the first corner.

- I think Felix looked good all weekend until he ended up crooked at the start.

He bent the rear wheel suspension, so he had a bit of trouble, concludes Ekblom.
