China News Service, March 6th. On the 6th, the website of the Chinese Swimming Association announced the selection methods for the 2023 Fukuoka World Swimming Championships and the 19th Asian Games swimming events.
It is mentioned that the 2023 National Spring Swimming Championships and the National Swimming Championships are selection competitions, and the schedule is consistent with the 19th Asian Games. The best results in each individual event in the two competitions are the main selection results.

With regard to athletes’ qualifications for the Fukuoka World Championships, the above-mentioned selection method mentioned that the final and preliminary results of each individual event in the two competitions will be summarized as selection results (hereinafter referred to as "final results" and "preliminary results"). The selection conditions are as follows:
(1) Qualifications for individual selection
1. In the final results of each individual event, up to 2 athletes who have reached the A standard of the World Championships and have the best results will be eligible for selection.
2. One athlete has already been selected in the final results of each individual event, and the other athlete who has reached the A standard of the World Championships in the preliminaries and has the best performance will be eligible for selection.
3. If there are no athletes who have reached the A standard of the World Championships in the final results of each individual event, the athletes who have reached the A standard of the World Championships in the preliminaries and have the best results, up to 2 people will be eligible for selection.
4. If no athlete reaches the World Championship A standard in each individual event, the best athlete who has reached the World Championship B standard and has the best results in the finals and preliminaries (the final is prior to the preliminaries) will be eligible for selection.
5. If the scores of each individual item are the same and exceed the number of selected places, the second best score of the individual item will be compared, and the one with the best score will be eligible for selection.
(2) Qualifications for Relay
1. Athletes who have obtained the qualifications for individual events will automatically obtain the qualifications for each relay event.
2. Athletes who have not been qualified for the individual event will be ranked according to the individual final results of the corresponding stroke and distance of each relay event, and will be eligible to participate in the relay event only.
3. According to the competition schedule of the World Championships, after all individual qualifications are confirmed, the list of athletes who only participate in the relay event will be determined through collective discussion based on the actual situation of each relay event.
(3) Physical fitness assessment
Before the World Championships, the national team will conduct an in-team physical fitness assessment according to the actual situation, and those who fail will be disqualified.
(4) Supplementary order
If athletes who are unable to participate due to injury or other reasons or are disqualified for other reasons, qualified athletes will be replaced in sequence.
