Swedish medalist Andreas Kramer was only fifth in the EC final in the 800 meters.

He took the lead early in the race, but was then involved in a messy situation.

Kramer got a push in the back from the Frenchman Benjamin Robert - who also trampled the Swede's shoe.

After that, Kramer lost momentum and he was never close to medal contention.

Afterwards he is annoyed.

- I get run over.

Stuff like this always happens... I don't know how it happened.

I get stepped on.

It bothered me quite a bit, says Kramer, showing off his crushed shoe.

Filing a protest

He called his trainer Per Skoog immediately after the race to discuss a possible protest.

Skoog confirms to SVT Sport that it will file a protest.

- You have to look at the situation.

There are judges who check this.

I have done my part in any case, says Kramer.

The Spaniard Adrián Ben won the gold in a time of 1.47.34.

Kramer's time was 1.48.15.
