Swedish superstar Elvira Öberg entered the WC as the biggest hope for gold.

Instead, it was older sister Hanna and Linn Persson who stole the show – with Elvira Öberg in the infirmary.

Although she managed to get a bronze in the relay, the last month has been very tough.

Immediately after the WC came another setback.

- I was hoping to get started straight away and train, but I actually got a little worse again.

I missed a few days of training.

I have been training for about a week, but had hoped to get off to a better start, says Öberg.

Chasing the French

The World Cup was disappointing, but you have the overall World Cup to run for, how much does that trigger?

- That's what really kept my spirits up the last three weeks.

No one is probably happier than me that it didn't count as World Cup points in the WC.

I still feel that there is something to work towards, it's incredibly fun.

Now I missed two weeks here, so I'm hitting a bit of a disadvantage.

I will do my best.

Julia Simon leads the total World Cup with 811 points, Elvira Öberg has 735 and third is Lisa Vitozzi with 641. Now the last three competition weekends of the season await.

First up is the sprint from Nove Mesto.

- Hope is still alive, I halved the distance in Antholz.

But I feel incredibly insecure about my form, and don't know how my body will react to competing three weekends in a row.

"It's been tough"

How has it been to be completely healthy for large parts of the season?

- You have learned not to take being at the start for granted.

It has been a special season, it has been tough.

The last time I was not affected by illness was in Pokljuka (January 5-8).

Normally I can lean back on form, but I haven't really been able to do that this year.

SVT broadcasts the women's sprint starting at 4 p.m., Friday, in SVT1/Play.
