The 35-year-old Slovenian, who played in Södertälje and Mora, scored the second game of his 17-year NHL career with four goals.

The first time was against Colorado in the 7-1 win in 2018.

This morning Kopitar made Los Angeles 2-1 reduction, 3-2 reduction, 3-3 and 5-4 reduction.

- It was a big win.

Of course I'm happy to be able to contribute and we showed character by falling into several deficits and constantly coming back and eventually winning on penalties.

Those were two very important points for us, says Kopitar, who has played for Los Angeles ever since he came to the NHL in 2006.

Doldisen Stenlund scored two goals for Winnipeg

In Winnipeg, Kevin Stenlund, 26, with a background in HV71, scored both 4-3 and 5-3.

It was the first time in the NHL that Stenlund scored two goals in one game.

- We played much better than in the last few games, checked well and had better skating and we will take that with us to the next game, says Stenlund.

The match winner for Los Angeles was, as so many times before, Adrian Kempe, who scored the decisive penalty for 6-5.

He highlighted Kopitar's importance to the win.

- Kopitar plays well all over the court and that is why he has been successful for so long.

Usually he's more of a passer but today he was red hot so we tried to give him the puck as much as possible.

He is a good leader and shows the way out there.

It's so fun to see, says Adrian Kempe.
