Hours after Argentine Lionel Messi, the French star of Paris Saint-Germain, won the “Best” award for the best player in the world during the year 2022, a Spanish report revealed a parallel award to that presented by FIFA.

Messi won the award for the best player in the world after beating Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, his colleague in St. Germain, who came second, while the other Frenchman, Karim Benzema, Real Madrid striker, came in third place.

He won the award before in 2019, so how can he not lift it again when he is the world champion in Qatar 2022 🇦🇷

Messi achieves a new individual award and completes the Argentine sweep tonight🤷‍♂️

And the Spanish newspaper "Marca" stated that all the valuable prizes are matched by another in the "worst" version, and are awarded to the least successful people in different fields.

She explained that the most valuable "Oscar" award is awarded annually to the best actors and actresses in the field of cinema, which is matched by the Golden Raspberry Award (Razzies), and is presented to the worst actors, actresses and cinematic films.

In exchange for the "Best" award presented by FIFA, the Spanish newspaper is looking for the least successful players in the 2021-2022 season, in addition to the start of the current season (2022-2023) until the 2022 World Cup Final in Qatar.

“Marca” reviewed a list of 12 players, and nominated their names to the public in order to vote on the “worst” among them.

The list included the Belgian Eden Hazard (Real Madrid), the Danish Joachim Anderson (Crystal Palace), the English Harry Maguire (Manchester United), the Senegalese Khalido Coulibaly (Chelsea), the English Joe Gomez (Liverpool), the Italian Nicolo Zaniolo (Roma – Besiktas), the French. Tiemoue Bukayoko (Milan), Englishman Calvin Phillips (Manchester City), Gabonese Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (Chelsea), Brazilian Lucas Moura (Tottenham), Englishman Dele Alli (Besiktas), Danish Casper Dolberg (Seville - Hoffenheim).

Marca does not question the quality of these players in general, but they were chosen because they disappointed and did nothing during the past months.

The newspaper took into account the performance of the aforementioned players with their clubs compared to their huge salaries, in addition to their disappointing appearance with their country's national teams in the 2022 World Cup finals or even their absence from the World Cup.
