Seiya Suzuki of the Major League Cubs has canceled his participation in the open game scheduled for the 25th due to the tension in his left flank.

Suzuki has been selected to represent Japan in the WBC = World Baseball Classic, but it has not been clarified whether he will participate after the 26th.

The Cubs announced on the 25th that Suzuki, who was scheduled to participate in the team's opening game in Mesa, Arizona as No. 4 and right, will not participate due to left flank tension.

Suzuki practiced catch and batting at the campsite in the morning to adjust, but he didn't seem to make a full swing and ended the practice halfway through with a light swing.

After that, he was seen talking to the team's trainer, and the team announced that he would stop participating in the open game about an hour before the start of the game.

Suzuki was selected to represent Japan in the WBC, which will start next month, and was planning to leave the camp and join the Japanese national team after participating in a few major league open games.

It is not clear about the participation after the 26th, but there is a possibility that it will affect the scheduled joining of the Japanese national team in the future.
