The 351 points added between the two teams after two overtimes, 175-176 in favor of the Clippers, have just made it the second highest-scoring game in the history of American basketball.

, to find a madness and a scoring splurge that exceeds those seen last night.
Then a Detroit Pistons-Denver Nuggets finished 186-184 in favor of the Pistons after three overtimes,
370 total points
.
As last night's game was going, one more overtime would have broken this record as well.
The match reached the end with a huge tie at 153, and ended the first overtime with a tie at 164.

Much of the blame for what happened lies with the former Los Angeles Lakers

, who despite the defeat managed for Sacramento with 45 points and 6 triples, while his teammate
De'Aaron Fox
went up to 42 points and 12 assists.
For the Clippers, a good part of the scoring work was done by
Kawhi Leonard
, who added 44 points thanks to 16 of 22 shooting, and 6 of 9 on triples.
It marks the fifth time in NBA history that at least three scorers have reached 40 points in a game, and the first since 2012.
The game marked the debut of
Russell Westbrook
with the Clippers, who completed a game with 17 points, five rebounds and 14 assists.
After Friday's results, the Clippers are fifth in the West (33-29) and the Kings third (34-25).
They were about to celebrate 41 years of, until last night, the second most scoring game in history.
It was a San Antonio Spurs against the Milwaukee Bucks played on March 6, 1982, which ended 171-166 in favor of the Spurs, 337 points in total after three overtimes, in a game of which George Gervin's 50 points are also
remembered

The 1983 Detroit Pistons-Denver Nuggets was the only time in history four players topped 40 points.

This fact gives even more merit to the fact that the Boston Celtis achieved

defeating the Minneapolis Lakers who stayed at a far from modest 139.
Last morning's game leaves Chicago-Atlanta on March 2, 2019 in fourth place in games with the most scores, which ended 161 to 168 in favor of the Bulls, 329 points in total.
