Indoor EC in athletics will be decided March 2-5, but without selected Swede Andreas Almgren in 3000 meters.

The middle-distance runner has an injury history that has affected his training schedule during the winter.

Now he doesn't feel in good enough shape to go to the championship.

Nine days ago he broke a race due to calf cramps and in Madrid two days ago he had a tough finish, finishing in 7.49.40.

His indoor record is 7.34.31.

- First I got a cold, then a slight feeling that meant I had to take it easy for 2-3 days.

All in all, this meant that the minimal competition preparation we had planned became even less.

I tested in Madrid to see if it would drop, but could tell that I am simply not prepared enough for competition.

Now he focuses on the outdoor season, where the WC in Budapest is this year's big goal.

A high-altitude camp awaits you next.

- In two weeks, I'm going to the USA for a longer high-altitude camp.

Then it just feels stupid to bet on the indoor EC, risk ending up in a bad pit, make a bad EC and then go to Flagstaff.

When I go there, I want to have a good foundation to stand on.
