Top 14: Castres manager Pierre-Henry Broncan sacked and replaced by Jeremy Davidson

Pierre-Henry Broncan was dismissed on Monday from his post as manager of Castres Olympique.

In two years at the head of the Olympians, the Gersois has recovered the Tarn club from the fight to maintain a Top 14 final "The worrying situation of the club, after its defeat against La Rochelle (Saturday), recurring shortcomings in our game currently and certain internal difficulties lead us to make a change", justified in a press release the Castres president Pierre-Yves Revol.

"Pierre-Henry Broncan has had a remarkable career with our club (…) The difficulties experienced by the club this season cannot hide this very positive assessment and all the qualities of Pierre-Henry, who lives rugby with passion and whose I I appreciated the ethics, the righteousness and the total commitment”, also wrote the leader.

11th in Top 14

Promoted to head coach in December 2020 in place of the Argentinian Mauricio Reggiardo, Broncan had recovered the Tarn club in a spectacular way, but the results no longer followed this season.

The only team in the Top 14 not yet to have won away, Castres conceded on Saturday against La Rochelle (32-17) its first defeat at home in more than two years, which condemns it to fight for maintenance.

Castres currently occupies 11th place in the Top 14 ranking.

A fatal end to the series for the son of former "Gers wizard" Henry Broncan, the fourth Top 14 coach to be dismissed this season after Christophe Urios (Bordeaux-Bègles), Jeremy Davidson (Brive) and Jono Gibbes (Clermont).

Already passed by the CO as a player (1998-2001) and forwards coach (2007-2009), Jeremy Davidson signed up until 2025 and immediately took up his new duties as manager.
