The home team did not have to wait long for a lead goal.

Because already in the tenth minute, Isaac Kiese Thelin could coolly put in 1-0.

A couple of minutes later, Sebastian Nanasi made it 2-0.

- It feels great, it hasn't really clicked during the pre-season, I haven't really got the ball into the goal.

Of course, it's extra nice to score a goal and an assist, says Nanasi in C More's broadcast, according to TV4's Fotbollskanalen.

"Incredible dominance"

Despite an affordable 2–0 victory, all was not peace and joy for Malmö and new coach Henrik Rydström.

Midfielder Moustafa Zeidan had to come off injured after 50 minutes with a suspected muscle injury.

- We have incredible dominance the whole match.

And handles their strengths in a damn good way, says Rydström.

The 47-year-old has made a big impression as a coach - first in Sirius and then in Kalmar FF.

He signed a "permanent contract" with Skåneklubben in November.

"Comfortable"

- We got comfortable for a few periods, then it's always a balance when you lead 2-0 and don't want to go on unnecessary counterattacks.

We didn't want to invite them to that kind of football.

But overall I'm very happy and we got the match exactly where we wanted, says Rydström to the club's website.

Next up is the Swedish Cup's second group stage match for Malmö FF - against IFK Luleå on February 27.

IFK Norrköping, who had a miserable season in 2022 with a twelfth place finish, started the competitive season by defeating Gais 1–0.

Big hero of the match was Arnór Traustason, who was responsible for the match's only complete hit.

At the Tele2 arena, Nahir Besara accounted for Hammarby's first two goals in the 4–1 victory against Brage.

Then substitutes Jusef Erabi, 19, and Montader Madjed, 17, scored the club's other goals.
