China News Agency, Beijing, February 17th. The Discipline and Ethics Committee of the Chinese Basketball Association issued a notice on the 17th stating that Xinjiang Guanghui Basketball Club Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Xinjiang Guanghui) constituted a registration violation. Restrictions on registration of new athletes.

In August 2021, Zhou Qi, a famous Chinese men's basketball player, announced his withdrawal from the CBA league due to the public conflict with his Xinjiang Guanghui Basketball Club, and reported Xinjiang Guanghui's many violations to the Chinese Basketball Association.

The Discipline and Ethics Committee of the Chinese Basketball Association stated in a "Punishment Notice" on the 17th that in response to Zhou Qi's suggestion that Xinjiang Guanghui was involved in violations, the committee filed a case and set up a special team to investigate and verify relevant parties. Without the approval of the registration institution, Huihui transfers its core business such as actual operation and management to affiliated companies that are not registered subjects; there is personality confusion with its affiliated companies in terms of organizational structure, financial management, business operations, club registration and access, etc.; Failing to employ coaches and staff in accordance with the requirements of registration and event admission, and failing to undertake the obligation to pay athletes in accordance with the requirements of relevant laws and regulations.

The notice stated that based on the above facts, Xinjiang Guanghui seriously violated the "Regulations for the Registration and Management of the Chinese Basketball Association", which constituted a registration violation.

According to the relevant provisions, Xinjiang Guanghui will be criticized in a circular, and within one year from the date of the punishment decision, the registration of new athletes will be restricted, and it will be prohibited to participate in or conduct domestic athlete transfer exchanges.

At the same time, the notice requires Xinjiang Guanghui to carry out rectification within the same period to meet the requirements of the "Chinese Basketball Association Registration Management Measures" and relevant management regulations.

According to industry insiders, this penalty decision means that Xinjiang Guanghui lost the right to exercise the exclusive right to sign Zhou Qi during the penalty period, allowing Zhou Qi to join other CBA clubs "freely".

In 2014, the 18-year-old Zhou Qi started his CBA journey with the Xinjiang team.

In 2017, after winning the CBA championship with the Xinjiang team, Zhou Qi joined the NBA Rockets.

At the beginning of 2019, Zhou Qi intends to return to the CBA.

According to the relevant rules, the Xinjiang team has the exclusive right to sign him for two years, so Zhou Qi returned to his old club.

However, as some old players left the team one after another, the Xinjiang team's lineup configuration made Zhou Qi "difficult to do it alone."

Because in the CBA league, the club has the priority to renew the contract for the top-paid players.

This means that as long as the Xinjiang team is willing to offer a maximum salary contract, Zhou Qi cannot join other CBA clubs.

Therefore, Zhou Qi announced his withdrawal from the CBA more than a year ago and joined the Australian National Basketball League (NBL).

Currently, Zhou Qi is preparing for the sixth window of the world preliminaries with the national team in Shanghai.

Zhou Qi, who has resumed "freedom", will go in the league, which has become a hot topic in Chinese basketball.
