Prince Hubertus of Hohenlohe-Langenburg, whose family ruled Hohenlohe-Langenburg in southwestern Germany until the beginning of the 19th century, is something as unusual as a Mexican slalom legend.

One could almost go so far as to say that he

is

Mexican alpine skiing.

Six Olympics

In 1981 he founded the Mexican Ski Federation, and a year later he made his debut in the World Championships, where he participated in all disciplines except super-G.

The best was a 26th place in the slalom competition.

Since then, there have been another 19 WCs and six Olympics.

He has participated in every WC since 1982 except 2007, when he had a broken leg.

“Too much time in the sun...”

But today his career probably ended, when he crashed out of the giant slalom race.

- I would say that it was probably the last, he told Eurosport, and gave an explanation for the accident:

- I probably spent too much time in the sun in Marbella this summer and worked out too little in the gym.
