Former Komusubi Shohozan, who retired in June last year, is 39 years old from Chikujo-cho, Fukuoka Prefecture.
He stepped on the first ring in the spring tournament in 2006, and although he is 1.76 cm tall and small for a sumo wrestler, he has the characteristics of thrusting sumo centered on intense thrusts and quick attacks.
