• Crisis The lack of auto transport trucks, the new stumbling block when buying a new car

The management of the multinational Stellantis has offered

the workers of its European plants, including the Spanish ones in Madrid, Vigo and Zaragoza

, a voluntary transfer to external companies dedicated to the transport of vehicles by road.

With this measure, Stellantis intends to alleviate the logistical problem that floods the fields of its factories with cars.

The origin of the problem lies in the

shortage of car transporter drivers, which has led to 21,000 cars being parked

outside the Zaragoza plant in Figueruelas, for example.

The group's three factories in Spain manufactured a total of 851,000 vehicles last year.

As published this Friday

by El Periódico de Aragón

, Stellantis proposes a temporary and voluntary assignment for those employees who have a driving license for car transporters.

Those who accept will maintain their current salary and would receive a bonus of 800 euros gross per month,

in addition to the payment of all the activity carried out, according to transport regulations.

The conditions also include overtime, and payment of travel expenses in accordance with the per diems in force for Stellantis short-term trips in Spain and Portugal.

Workers who accept the proposal will be able to return to their jobs at Stellantis when the collaboration ends.

Priority access to this initiative can be given to workers who have a type C+E driving license and, preferably, with a valid professional certificate. However,

prior registration is open to anyone in possession of any type of driving license

with at least

least five years old, even without a valid professional certificate, who is over 21 years old and is interested in opting for this opportunity.

It is not the first time that Stellantis has encouraged the mobility of its workers, since at Christmas 2021, several contingents of Figueruelas employees agreed to work temporarily at the Villaverde (Madrid) or Poissy (France) factory.

The suspension of the night shift forced the relocation of 650 employees of the Zaragoza plant, of which 200 did so at the Madrid plant.

In addition to allowances for accommodation, on that occasion they received a bonus of between 2,100 and 2,900 euros.
