Elias Pettersson is heading towards his best NHL season in terms of points.

In the night's goal celebration between Vancouver and the New York Islanders, he increased his scoring with three new points.

First, the 24-year-old found his way to compatriot Oliver Ekman Larsson, who pushed to make it 1-1 halfway into the first period.

Two goals in four minutes

The New York Islanders responded and led 4-3 before the final period.

Then Pettersson, who had recently become assistant captain, stepped forward twice.

In the span of four minutes, he struck twice to turn the game around and eventually win 6-5.

After the match, he was praised by teammate Brock Boeser, who played until both of the Swede's goals.

- We have always had chemistry.

Every time I play with him I try to make something happen.

He is a special player.

In total, Pettersson is now up to 63 points this season.
