Son of 'Marquitos', champion of Real Madrid's first five European Cups (1956-1960), and

father of Marcos Alonso, current FC Barcelona player

, the former player died after a long illness.

Born in Santander in 1959, Marcos Alonso trained at Racing Santander and his sports career led him to military service, among others, at Barcelona and Atlético.

He played 22 games with the National Team, under the command of

José Emilio Santamaría

and

Miguel Muñoz

.

After his retirement, in 1991, he was a coach through eight different Spanish soccer teams and a commentator in various media.
