At 4:17 a.m. on Monday morning, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale occurred in southern Turkey.

Just hours earlier, Christian Atsu, who previously played for Chelsea and Newcastle among others, had been celebrating after scoring a redeeming 1-0 goal in the 97th minute for his Hatayspor.

Afterwards, the Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu wrote that Atsu, and the sports director Taner Savut are two of the people who were stuck in the racial masses.

Yesterday's information was not correct

Hatayspor vice-chairman Mustafa Özat then confirmed on Monday evening that they were both missing.

Later in the evening, however, there was good news that Atsu had been rescued and taken to hospital.

Özat announced that Atsu had been taken to hospital with injuries, but did not specify what kind of injuries.

But on Wednesday new information came, and then it was announced that it was not true that Atsu had been saved.

- We do not know where he is.

It is not true that he was found or taken somewhere else, says the club's manager Volkan Demirel to the Reuters news agency, and further announces that they are continuing to look for the 31-year-old.
