Soon the second season of the LIV tour will start.

The tour, which started last season, is played as a league with 48 players - who settle for massive prize money.

The player who won the most last year, former world number one Dustin Johnson, took in over SEK 365 million during 2022's seven competitions.

It can be compared with Scottie Scheffler, who pulled in the most of anyone on last season's PGA tour: Just over SEK 147 million - in 25 competitions.

The LIV Tour, funded by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), and the players who went there have come under heavy criticism from many quarters.

Partly for contributing to sportswashing, but they have also been accused of destroying the golf ecosystem and choosing the money before the sporting challenge.

- Of course it was partly a business decision (to choose LIV), but more time at home with the family, that's the most important thing for me, says reigning British Open champion Cameron Smith in SVT Sports' new documentary "LIV or death?".

"Is it too late?"

Since the LIV tour was launched, the golf world has been divided considerably.

The LIV tour players are suspended from the PGA tour, and several are involved in a lawsuit against the PGA.

In other words, the atmosphere between the tours is really tense.

And the question is, will it be better this year?

Doubtful, say several people in SVT's new documentary.

- I don't think that will happen in the near future.

Maybe it can happen far in the future.

But how they will get there is another matter.

There is a lot to work on.

It's almost like thinking: "Is it too late?", says the American golf journalist and author Bob Harig in the documentary.
