Fiorentina includes Moroccan Saberi and keeps him on loan in Sampdoria
The Italian club Fiorentina signed a contract with Moroccan international playmaker Abdelhamid Sabiri from Sampdoria, and loaned him directly to the latter until the end of the current season.
The club, located in Florence, said on Tuesday evening, on the last day of the winter transfer market, "Fiorentina Club is pleased to announce the signing of Abdelhamid Sabiri on a permanent deal from Sampdoria."
"The attacking midfielder will remain in Sampdoria on loan until June 30, 2030," he added.
Reports indicated that the deal amounted to nearly four million euros, signing a contract until 2026.
Saberi wrote on his Instagram account, "I want to take the opportunity to thank Sampdoria for helping me get this opportunity. I am happy to continue wearing your shirt until the end of the season. I promise to give everything I have until the last second to make our dream come true."
"I am excited and happy to soon be part of the Fiorentina family," he added.
Sabiri (26 years old) was among the Moroccan national team that made history in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, after becoming the first African and Arab team to reach the semi-finals.
He started two matches and came on as a substitute in three matches.
He was born on November 28, 1996 in Guelmima, Morocco, and began his career as a young man in Germany. He played professionally for the first time with Nuremberg in 2016, before moving to Huddersfield in 2017 and playing with him in the English Premier League.
He returned to Germany from the Paderborn Gate in 2019, then to Italy with Ascoli in 2020, and then to Sampdoria in early 2022.
