Katsushika Ward is the birthplace of the original author of the popular soccer manga "Captain Tsubasa."

On the 1st, the ward signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's affiliated organization "Japan Private School Promotion and Co-sponsoring Organization" to acquire the construction site for the stadium.

The land with which we signed an agreement is located along the Sobu Line near JR Shin-Koiwa Station, and is used as a general athletic field with grounds and tennis courts.

The area is 68,000 square meters, and according to the ward, the acquisition cost is expected to be about 35 billion yen.

Aiming to acquire the property in March next year, the company hopes to build a stadium that can accommodate 15,000 spectators in the future while using it as a sports ground that is open to residents after the acquisition.

According to the ward, if it is realized, the number of stadiums dedicated to soccer that can meet the J League's J1 standard of 15,000 people or more will be built in the 23 wards for the first time.

Mayor Aoki said, ``There weren't many places to watch sports in the city. I would like to secure not only the place but also the place to see it."
