Sweden played really well in the goal-rich first half and led 22-18 at halftime.

Among others, Felix Claar, who replaced the injured star Jm Gottfridsson, impressed with many assists for the Swedish goals.

But at the beginning of the second half, Sweden had a heavier period and Spain caught up.

It would also continue that way.

The Swedish game faltered at the same time as the Spanish stars had really set their sights.

In the end, Sweden lost 39-36 and thus the home crowd did not get to celebrate a medal.

The best scorer among the Swedes was the left-six Hampus Wanne, but his eight goals did not help much when, among others, Alex Dujshebaev and Adria Figueras poured in for Spain.

In 2021, Sweden's men's handball won silver in the WC and last year they won the EC, but this time they were without a medal.
