In February 2021, Mr. A received 3 million won in cash from B's parents at the supervisor's office, and it was revealed that he received an additional 10 million won in March.

However, Mr. A had pitcher B throw only 0.2 innings, and player B did not meet the criteria for entering college.

Parents visited the school and disclosed the request for admission, but the school did not show any will to solve the problem.

When the parents filed a complaint with the Office of Education about the matter, the school finally imposed a disciplinary punishment on Mr. A of suspending his duties for one month.

And they filed a complaint with the police against Mr. A and his parents for violating the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, the so-called Kim Young-ran Act.

Mr. A denied the allegations during the police investigation.

However, the police sent Mr. A to the prosecution with the opinion of indicting him for violating the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.

According to SBS coverage at the time, it was revealed that Mr. A requested not only cash, but also a funeral wreath and repairs to his car, and his modest amount was known to exceed 19 million won.

Mr. A denied some of the charges even at trial.

He argued that there was no fact that he received some cash, and that sending a wreath to an acquaintance was an acceptable money item according to social norms.

However, the court judged that it was all true that Mr. A received the cash, considering the testimony and statements of the officials.

In addition, the parents of the players sent wreaths to their acquaintances as an act that could harm the fairness, integrity, and trust of the coach, and acknowledged all the facts of the prosecution as guilty.

The judge pointed out that "the defendant has received money and other valuables from the baseball player's father several times, and the scale is not small, even though fairness and integrity are required in performing duties such as selecting players and granting opportunities to participate."
