Sweden did not get a hold of France in the first half, while the blue-yellow attacking game limped.

This meant that they went to rest with a four-goal deficit, 16-12.

- Right now there is not much that speaks for a turnaround, said SVT Sports expert Magnus Grahn at the time.

And so it was.

Sweden came close a couple of times and were at one stage only two goals behind, but the French were never stressed and Sweden couldn't get either the defense or attack to work perfectly.

Jonathan Carlsbogård received a red card with a few minutes left to play due to too brusque defensive play.

The match ended 31-26 and now the bronze medal match awaits the Swedes.

There they meet Spain, while France faces Denmark in the final.

Sweden's top scorer was Eric Johansson with five goals, but it was not at the same level as France's Ludovic Fabregas with six goals.

The medal matches are played on Sunday.
