- It was just heavy.

I felt it pretty quickly.

It was a hard day today, says Johannes Hösflot Kläbo to SVT Sport.

The Norwegian, who dominated for large parts of the season, finished eighth today in the 10 kilometer freestyle.

In the end, Kläbo was far from the podium.

- It's a new day tomorrow, so it's just a matter of trying again, he notes.

Are you disappointed?

- No, it is as it is.

Eighth place is too bad.

The response to Bolshunov's comments

Recently, Aleksandr Bolshunov came out in an interview with NRK and said that cross-country skiing has lost its appeal, after Russian skiers were banned from participating.

Bolshunov did not least refer to the Tour de Ski, where Kläbo won in superior style.

Kläbo has previously said he does not want to see Russians compete as long as the war continues, but recently the International Olympic Committee (IOC) opened up to allow Russian and Belarusian skaters to compete again.

- I stand by what I said when the situation broke out a year ago, says Kläbo.

How has the sporting level been in the World Cup when Russian skaters have not participated?

- It is difficult to say when they are not here.

It will only be speculation.

"Just check today's results"

What do you say about Bolshunov's comments that no one can compete with you?

- Just look at today's results.

It is quite possible.

Is it worse competition when the Russian riders are not there?

- We know that they were even up there, and they could have been now too if they were there.
