10 teams participate in the "Copa America 2024", which will be held in the United States

The Copa America 2024 football edition will be held in the United States, with the participation of ten teams from South America (CONMEBOL) and six from CONCACAF (North, Central America and the Caribbean), according to what the latter announced today.

CONCACAF said the tournament would be co-organized by the two continental federations (CONCACAF and CONMEBOL).

The announcement is part of a series of new collaborations between the North and South American federations.

The United States, Mexico and Canada are co-hosting the World Cup in 2026, and hosting the Copa America is seen as an ideal building for that world championship.

Copa America 2024 will also guarantee the three host countries of the World Cup, which automatically qualified for its finals, which will witness the participation of 48 teams, to play additional competitive matches as part of their preparations for the World Cup.

The United States previously hosted a special edition of the Copa America in 2016 featuring teams from CONCACAF.

The last edition was held in 2021, and Argentina won its title against host Brazil.

The six CONCACAF teams will qualify for the Copa America through the 2023/24 CONCACAF Nations League.
