Unprecedented global participation in the Arab Cup and the Fujairah International Taekwondo Championship next February

The Zayed Sports Complex will host, during the period (2-8) next February, the Arab Taekwondo Championship in its third edition and the Fujairah International Taekwondo Championship in its tenth edition, and they will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.


This was announced at a press conference organized by the Organizing Committee at the Fujairah Club for Martial Arts. The Chairman of the Organizing Committee and the President of the UAE Taekwondo Federation, Brigadier General Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al-Zeyoudi, the Advisor to the General Authority for Sports, Abdulaziz Buhindi, the Secretary-General of the Federation, Abdullah Al-Samahi, and the tournament director, Nader Abu Shawish, were present.


Athletes from 55 countries of the world participate in the two championships.


The Fujairah International Taekwondo Championship is classified with two stars, G2, and its competitions will start on February 5, while the Arab Cup is classified with one star, G1, and its matches will be held on February 2 and 3.



In turn, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee welcomed all the participants in the two tournaments. In turn, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee extended his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, Honorary President of the Emirates Taekwondo Federation, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, coinciding with the organization of the tenth edition of the International Taekwondo.


Revealing the participation of a large number of international players from different countries of the world, in addition to players from within the country, and the presence of a group of the best international taekwondo referees, and 


expressed his pride that the Fujairah International Championship has become among the best world championships until it reached the tenth edition, and the Fujairah International Championship paved the way for the elite players From different countries of the world to compete for the championship medals, in addition to raising the level of competition, which contributed to a prominent development of the game at the level of the Emirates and the countries of the world 


. He also expressed his happiness at hosting the Arab Taekwondo Cup, describing it as distinguished.


The Vice-Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Abdullah Al-Samahi, expressed his pride in the Emirati participation in the two tournaments, as he confirmed the participation of 33 male and female players, including 18 male and female players from most of the Emirati clubs, indicating that the goal of participation is to provide an honorable performance in the matches and compete to achieve colored medals and golds, God willing, and better. from the last tournament.  


For his part, Abdulaziz Buhindi, advisor at the Public Authority for Sports, affirmed the readiness of the Zayed Sports Complex to receive the Arab and International Championships, pointing out that the Taekwondo Federation and the Fujairah Martial Arts Club have taught them good organization, expecting that the next version will be successful by all standards.

The tournament director revealed that 722 players from 20 countries will participate in the Arab Cup tournament, describing it as the highest participation in addition to attracting elite Olympic champions such as Saleh Al-Sharbaty, the silver medalist in the Tokyo Olympic Games (2020), and the Egyptian Saif Issa, the bronze medalist in the same competition. The championship, and the participation of 1364 male and female players representing 36 countries in the tenth Fujairah Championship, including 314 male and female players from the UAE, in addition to the participation of 44 female players from the Fujairah Club, which reflects the interest of the UAE sports sector in promoting Emirati women’s sports.
