Yesterday came the news that Russian and Belarusian athletes may be allowed to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics under a neutral flag.

"An avenue for athletes to participate under strict rules should be further explored," the International Olympic Committee wrote in a statement.

The road to the Olympics may then go via competitions in Asia.

Welcome to the Asian Games

On Thursday, the Olympic Council of Asia confirmed that Russian and Belarusian athletes will be allowed to compete in Asia, including the Asian Games later this year.

"All athletes, regardless of nationality or passport, should be able to take part in sports competitions", they wrote in a statement on Thursday.

They further write that they are waiting for the International Olympic Committee to continue its cooperation with international special federations regarding how Russian and Belarusian athletes can return under strict conditions.
