For 25 years, the world's elite on the women's side have gathered in Vårgårda, but now it's over.

It is the economy that puts a stop to it.

"Arranging the competitions, which include both team pace and line races, is estimated to cost just over four million kroner.

Despite significant financial support from our long-standing partners, the club cannot finance the event in a responsible manner without risking the association's future," they write in a press release.

Increased organizational requirements are also cited as a reason for the decision.

Last year, the French Audrey Cordon-Ragot won the World Tour competition in Vårgårda.

Emilia Fahlin was the best Swede in ninth place.
