Al Rumaithi tops the international rankings at the Al Ain Winter Chess Festival

Counselor Youssef Al-Afrit, a Kuwaiti member of the Board of Directors and Financial Secretary of Al-Ain Chess and Mental Games Club, crowned the rapid chess champions at the Al-Ain Winter Chess Festival, in the presence of Hisham Al-Taher, Managing Director and CEO of the club.

Al-Kuwaiti appreciated the support and directives of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council to improve the sports system in various games in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the keenness of the club's board of directors to spread the sport of smart people among the various segments and groups of society, especially that the city of Al Ain is the capital of chess in the continent of Asia.  

The rapid chess tournament competitions were held from 9 rounds according to the Swiss system, and each player got a thinking time of 10 minutes for the match, with an addition of 5 seconds for each move from the start of the match, according to the Fisher system for rapid chess competitions.



The Emirati international ranking was topped by Ahmed Al-Rumaithi with 8.5 points, one point ahead of Egyptian international Samir Ramez, and the Filipino Santiago Reggie came in third place with 7 points.

Amal Fadel Al Shamsi won the award for best female player, while Ghaith Al Nuaimi was crowned the best Emirati player, and Zainab Al Maamari won the award for best Emirati player.



Ahmed Younes won the best Ainawi player award, while Moza Al Shamsi won the best Ainawi player award.

Abdullah Saeed Al Balushi won the award for best junior player, while Salama Majed won the award for best female player.



The curtain fell on the rapid chess championship competitions within the activities of the Al Ain Winter Chess Festival, which achieved great success in light of the record participation of female and male players from 15 countries in the world, including Venezuela representing the continent of South America, along with Egypt and Sudan from the continent of Africa, the Philippines, India, the Sultanate of Oman and Jordan. Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and the Emirates from the continent of Asia.

The referees of the rapid chess tournament were headed by the Egyptian referee Ahmed Adel, and assisted by the national referee Ahmed Al Hamli.
