Real Madrid regained the tone of victories, and returned to chasing its arch-rivals Barcelona in the lead race between them in the Spanish Football League championship, after its precious 2-0 victory over its host Athletic Bilbao yesterday evening, Sunday, in the 18th round of La Liga.
Real Madrid, which suffered a sudden loss against Villarreal in the last round, rose to 41 points in second place, narrowing the difference with Barcelona (leader) to only 3 points.
On the other hand, Bilbao's credit, which did not achieve any victory in the championship for the fourth consecutive match, stopped at 26 points in eighth place.

French star Karim Benzema opened the scoring for Real in the 24th minute, before German Toni Kroos added the second goal in the 90th minute.
Real Madrid suffered a painful 1-3 loss against Barcelona in the Spanish Super Final, which was held between them last week in Saudi Arabia.
