For his big return to the field after months spent battling cancer, Sébastien Haller was able to celebrate his recovery with a victory at the end of a crazy match.

Winner of Augsburg, Borussia Dortmund (4-3) took the opportunity to move up to 6th place in the Bundesliga.

Entered on the hour mark, Haller however did not score.

Franco-Ivorian center-forward Sébastien Haller made his official match debut in the colors of Borussia Dortmund on Sunday afternoon against Augsburg on the 16th day of the Bundesliga, six months after testicular cancer diagnosed a few days after his transfer .

Entering the game in place of the German Youssoufa Moukoko in the 62nd minute, when the score was 2-2 between Dortmund and Augsburg, Sébastien Haller was cheered by the nearly 82,000 spectators at the sold-out Westfalenstadion.

Testicular cancer

Transferred in July 2022 to BVB from Ajax Amsterdam to make up for the departure to Manchester City of Norwegian Erling Haaland, Haller had to interrupt summer preparation and was diagnosed with testicular cancer a few days later.

The 28-year-old Ivory Coast international played around 20 minutes in Dortmund's two warm-up matches in January, notably scoring a hat-trick against Basel.
