Ekdal has had his big breakthrough with Djurgården in the last two seasons and has also been tested in games with the A national team.

But now he is lost to the Stockholm club.

During Saturday, the transfer to English Burnley became official.

The club, coached by Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany, are currently top of the Championship after 28 games played and look to be heading for Premier League play next season.

Ekdal has signed for four and a half seasons.

The Championship is a league I have always admired so it would have been cool, Ekdal told SVT Sport during the national team gathering in the Algarve last week.
