The Prosecutor's Office has requested this Friday the
entry into preventive detention
and without bail of the former Barça player
Dani Alves
, after the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested him for sexually assaulting a young woman in a Barcelona nightclub on the night of December 30.
Alves was
arrested
at the Mossos d'Esquadra de Les Corts police station, in the Catalan capital, after going to testify this Friday
for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at the
Sutton nightclub on December 30.
One of the most fashionable places in the upper area of the city and which is usually frequented by footballers and celebrities.
The former Barça player, who played in the World Cup in Qatar with Brazil and
currently plays for Pumas de México
, had gone to the police station early this Friday and, unexpectedly for him, was arrested in a police car a few minutes after 10 in the morning.
The police patrol has taken him to the Ciutat de la Justicia in Barcelona, where
he will go to court and the judge of court number 15 who is investigating the case must decide if he orders prison or freedom with charges
.
Dani Alves has been questioned by the Agents of the Central Unit of Sexual Assaults-of the Mossos
, specialized in cases of violence against women.
In this case, the complainant accuses the soccer player of having touched her under her underwear without her consent, when she was with some friends, on the night of December 30 to 31, in a VIP area of this well-known nightclub in Barcelona.
After this alleged assault,
the victim and her friends alerted the local security personnel
.
Immediately, they
activated the pertinent protocol in these cases and notified the Mossos
.
The agents took her statement from the woman and other witnesses, and then took her to a health center for her medical examination.
The player was no longer in the nightclub when the police arrived and a few hours later he took a plane to Mexico to join the discipline of Los Pumas.
Alves denied any sexual assault
and assured that he had spent very little time at the disco.
The complainant, for her part, ratified the account of the events two days after her first statement and filed a
complaint on January 2 for an alleged assault
that would have taken place in the disco's toilets, after she and Alves met. They would have met in the VIP area of the Sutton.
