The sanction against Eric Bailly has finally fallen.

The Ivorian defender of Olympique de Marseille has been suspended for seven matches by the disciplinary committee of the French football federation, AFP learned from sources familiar with the case, confirming information from the daily

La Provence

.

This suspension penalizes the defender's fault on the Hyères player, Almike Moussa N'Diaye, whom he had struck with his sole on the right pectoral during OM's victory in the 32nd round of the Coupe de France ( 2-0).

The Var midfielder had been hospitalized, after a passage through the intensive care unit of the North Hospital of Marseille.

Pablo Longoria furious

Bailly has already served two of these seven suspension games, against Troyes and Lorient in the league.

He will also miss the round of 16 of the Coupe de France scheduled for Friday against Rennes as well as the L1 matches against Monaco, Nantes and Nice.

His last suspension match will be either a possible round of 16 of the Coupe de France on February 8, or the league match against Clermont on February 12.

Pablo Longoria, the president of OM, contacted by our colleagues from RMC, said he was furious to see this information leaked to the press, when the FFF had not notified Olympique de Marseille.
