Inter Milan retained the Italian Super Cup by logically outclassing an AC Milan without spring (3-0), allowing the nerazzurro coach Simone Inzaghi to win this trophy for the fourth time in four participations, Wednesday in Riyadh.

Inter Milan won 3-0 against Milan rivals AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup final to claim their first trophy of the season.

Everything is folded during the first 45 minutes.

Federico Dimarco at the end of a nice collective movement (10th) then Edin Dzeko all in class (21st) concretized a perfect first half hour of the Interists against borrowed Milanese, like their last performances.

The Rossoneri certainly picked up some color in the second half but were again victims of their evening defensive lightness, punished by Lautaro Martinez (77th).

A true man of the finals, Simone Inzaghi won his fourth Italian Supercup at the age of 46.

He joins the record holders Fabio Capello and Marcello Lippi.

Inzaghi had won it twice with Lazio Rome (2017 and 2019) before his first success with Inter last season.

Semi-automatic offside

Milan for its part is still waiting to launch its year 2023, having arrived in Riyadh on a series of disappointments since the post-World Cup recovery: two frustrating draws against AS Roma (2-2) and Lecce (2-2) which allowed in Naples to escape at the top of Serie A, and a surprise elimination at San Siro in the eighth round of the Italian Cup against a Torino reduced to ten (1-0 after extra time).

Like Theo Hernandez, the shadow of the side he was at the World Cup with the Blues, Milan no longer finds the enthusiasm and the legs that carried him to the scudetto last season.

The semi-automatic offside, tested for the first time in an Italian match before being used in the return phase of the championship, took much less time than the Rossoneri to come into action, to validate the opener by Federico Dimarco, receiving a center from Nicolo Barella after a good exchange after Dzeko.

The Bosnian, despite his 36 years, showed his talent again by scoring a nice second goal, after eliminating Sandro Tonali before concluding with a cross shot.

Maignan absent

Ciprian Tatarusanu, responsible for guarding the cage in the prolonged absence of Mike Maignan, still sidelined by a calf injury, did what he could then to avoid the 3-0 on a recovery from Dzeko (27th) then a heavy strike from Dimarco (29th).

But he could do nothing at the end of the match on the strike from outside the right of world champion Lautaro Martinez, winner of his physical duel with Fikayo Tomori.

In the second half Milan however tried to react, in particular thanks to Rafael Leao.

The Portuguese, already the most dangerous in the first period on a shot deflected by André Onana (17th), shot just above (49th) and was not far from finding the head of Olivier Giroud, firmly watched (57th ).

But Milan will need to find a full team, and not just a talented winger, to stem their bad run.
