Seibu's Sosuke Genda, who was selected as a member of the Japanese national team for the WBC = World Baseball Classic, which will open in March, released a voluntary training session in Saitama Prefecture on the 14th and said, "Do 100% of what you can do. I want to contribute to Japan's victory," he said enthusiastically.

Last season, Genda, who won the Golden Glove Award for the fifth consecutive year in the short program, was selected to represent Japan in the WBC, which was announced this month.

On the 14th, the voluntarily training was shown to the press at the Seibu 2nd Army stadium in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture, where they exercised their bodies through soccer and running with young players.

After that, Genda moved to the indoor practice field to check his catching movements after being knocked, and to check his form in batting practice against the machine.

Regarding his current physical condition, Genda said, "Even though I'm practicing, I don't have any pain in my body, and I feel good."

As for the WBC, which will be his first appearance, he said, "I am excited to be selected for the national team, and I am also nervous. Manager Kuriyama said, 'I want you to help me become the best in the world.' I want to contribute 100% to what I can do to help Japan win the championship. At the camp, I want to work hard to confirm movements that can easily cause injury, such as sprinting with increased output and base running."
