Sweden was the big favorite in the second group stage match, when Cape Verde was the opposition.

After a slightly slow start, Sweden picked up speed and not least Mikael Appelgren was involved in the goal.

It did not take long before Sweden had a large and secure lead in the match.

Hampus Wanne put in a strong effort on his wing and scored five goals in the first half, making him Sweden's top scorer in the match.

The difference between the teams was eleven goals at halftime.

Cape Verde's lift in the second half

But at the beginning of the second half, it was somewhat tougher for Sweden, as Cape Verde played seven against six in the attack.

Appelgren had difficulty getting hold of the shots, not least when they came from Felisberto Landim, who scored four goals in as many attempts at the beginning of the half.

However, Cape Verde's advantage in players meant a couple of cheap goals for Sweden, in an open box.

The match had two completely different faces, and Cape Verde was better than Sweden for large parts of the second half.

Even in the goal score, the opposition was stronger, but thanks to Sweden's big lead from the first, it was never even on the scoreboard.

34-27 was the final score in the second World Cup game, which meant that Cape Verde won the second half by four goals.
