Mikael Ymer was responsible for several fine performances in 2022. But the year that was also blew other winds around the Swedish tennis star, who received a lot of criticism after some attention-grabbing statements.

Among other things, he compared a Swedish tournament without his participation to ordering a salad at McDonalds and said the following about his not participating in Båstad: "The reason why I don't play in Båstad is the same reason why Zlatan doesn't play in the Allsvenskan".

When Mikael Ymer visited Carina Bergfeldt, he talked about the criticism he received from Tennis Sweden and that he felt that many united against him.

- A long season with criticism from experts, who among other things criticized me for not giving back to Sweden and that I was not a loyal Swede.

And then many people jumped on that train, many other experts who wanted to show loyalty to all these experts, says Ymer.

- They themselves left Sweden when they earned 100,000-200,000 to avoid the tax.

And I'm still written here.

During the autumn, Ymer was supported by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who came out and defended the tennis star.

Ibrahimovic said that in an interview with SVT, Ymer was asked far too few questions about his tennis playing.

- It became like a cult where everyone got together, and that when Zlatan went out and went against the whole trend and went against everyone... Just that he supported me in general means the world to me.

Then I don't want to go into specifics about what the comments were, but at least it turned out that Zlatan went out and supported me like that.
