  China News Service, January 13. According to the China University Sports Association, on January 12 local time, the 31st World University Winter Games opened at the Lake Placid Olympic Center in the United States.

The Chinese University Sports Delegation sent 25 athletes to compete in 3 major events and 11 minor events.

  Han Yu, a women's curling athlete from Beijing Sport University, is the flag bearer of the Chinese University Sports Delegation.

There are 49 Chinese university student sports delegations, 25 of whom will participate in 11 events in three major events: short track speed skating, women's curling, and snowboarding.

  New York State Governor Kathy Hochul attended the opening ceremony and announced the opening of the Lake Placid Winter Games.

1,443 student athletes from more than 540 colleges and universities in 46 countries and regions will compete in 12 major events and 85 minor events.

  The Chinese college student sports delegation went to Lake Placid in five batches to compete. Among them, 9 members from the regiment headquarters and 9 members from the women's curling team arrived at the station on January 7th and 9th local time. After the curling team arrived, they participated in a technical meeting and conducted physical training and field adaptation training.

  According to the schedule, the first match of the Chinese women's curling team will be against the Spanish team on the 13th.

The short track speed skating competition will start on the 19th. The Chinese university student sports delegation will participate in all 9 events, namely men's and women's 500 meters, 1000 meters, 1500 meters, men's 5000 meters relay and women's 3000 meters relay , mixed gender relay.

The snowboard team will participate in the parallel giant slalom event, and the competition will be held on the 21st.

  The World University Games is hosted by the International University Sports Federation (hereinafter referred to as FISU), and is divided into winter and summer, held every two years.

The Lake Placid Winter Games is the first comprehensive winter sports event that China will participate in after the successful Beijing Winter Olympics.

  This year's Winter Games will be held from January 12 to 22, 2023. There are 12 major events and 85 small events, including alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, and short track speed. There are 9 permanent events of skating, figure skating, curling, and ice hockey, and 3 optional events of ski jumping, Nordic combined, and speed skating.
