Olympique de Marseille announced Thursday evening the signing of a "collaboration" with the label "D'or et de platinum" of Marseille rapper Jul, the biggest seller in the history of French rap, whose logo will appear on the jersey of the players from Saturday.
Until the end of the season, "the D & P logo will appear on the sleeve of the shirts of the men's and women's professional teams", announced OM in a press release at midnight.
"The collaboration will also allow the creation of unique experiences and exclusive content, for Olympian supporters and fans of the artist", is it added in the press release, without further details.
“Marseille is my city, OM is a passion.
This collaboration is a real childhood dream”, added Jul in this press release, after announcing this “craziness” to his fans a few hours earlier on his Twitter account.
Rap and football, an obvious mix
According to figures from the National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing (Snep), "Le J" has accumulated 582,635 cumulative sales, with 7 solo albums in the Top 200.
A big seller, Jul is also the one who unified the Marseille rap scene through two projects: "13'Organisé" (2020) - 436 million views for the clip "Organized band" on Youtube - and "Le classico organized" (2021 ).
The first is a collective album of Marseille artists, the second a kind of "battle" with Parisian rappers, on the model of the OM-PSG classico of football.
The analogy between rap and football does not end there.
In June, Jul filled the Stade Vélodrome, home of OM, for a three-hour show.
