Autumn was not what Tove Alexandersson had hoped for.

The 30-year-old missed the trail WC, among other things, due to a heel injury.

- I've had some problems with the hamstrings.

They can take quite a while to heal, so I've been trying to be quite careful over the winter and not stress them too much.

I haven't really had any major problems, but I haven't challenged them that much either, she tells SVT Sport.

When did you start having pain?

- It was last summer.

After the WC I started to have problems.

"Couldn't exercise that much"

Alexandersson has been successful in several different sports.

Although she is mainly associated with orienteering, where she won 17 World Cup golds, in recent years she has invested more and more in ski alpinism, also called skimo.

Next month, the WC in Spain starts, but it's not something that Alexandersson wanted to think too much about yet.

- Now I haven't been able to train as much in skimo either.

I've had a bit of trouble with the boots too, because of the hamstrings.

Hopefully there will be a little more specific training in the future.

Is the WC in danger?

- I haven't started to focus so much on the WC yet.

I have focused more on getting a good basic training period.

Olympic plans put on hold

She has previously opened up to bet on the Olympics in Milan and Cortina in 2026. But last autumn the news came that Alexandersson's favorite distance had been removed from the program.

- It feels very boring.

That they only have the short, more audience-friendly and perhaps more easily arranged distances for the television broadcasts.

It's really the longer races that are the foundation of skimo, she says and explains that there are no Olympic plans in mind at the moment.

Alexandersson elaborates:

- It's quite far from what I really like about skimo.

It was the individual and longer race in the mountains that I had set my sights on.

That won't happen during the Olympics.

So I don't really have the Olympics on my mind right now, she says and adds:

- I really hope that the sport does not develop in that direction.

That would be very boring.
