Xinhua News Agency, Shijiazhuang, January 9 (Reporter Yang Fan) The 2022 National Women's Water Polo Championship kicked off on the 9th at the Jiujiang Sports Center in Tangshan, Qian'an City, Hebei Province.

  The competition lasted for three days and adopted a single round-robin final system. 104 athletes and coaches from 5 representative teams including the national team and the Shanghai team participated.

  The national team and the Tianjin 361° team were the first to make their debut that day. The national team won their first victory at 19:5.

The second game was played between the Guangxi team and the Fujian Zhouke team. The Guangxi team won 19:3.

  In the 2022 Asian Water Polo Championships and the 2023 Fukuoka World Championships qualifying tournament in Japan, the Chinese women's water polo team swept all the way to win the championship and received tickets for the World Championships, achieving four consecutive Asian Championships.

  Li Meichunzi, the team leader of the Chinese women's water polo team, said: "Since returning home after participating in the Asian Championships last year, we have been actively preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics and this year's Hangzhou Asian Games. This competition can test the overall training level of each team last year."

  The event is sponsored by the Small Ball Sports Management Center of the State General Administration of Sports, hosted by the People's Government of Qian'an City, Tangshan Jiujiang Sports Center, and supported by the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau, Tangshan Sports Bureau, and Qian'an Sports Bureau.
