China News Agency, Beijing, January 9th. The breakdancing Chinese national team trials ended on the 8th at the National Extreme Sports Lishui Training Base. Eight players (4 men and 4 women) formed the first breakdancing Chinese national team.
Shang Xiaoyu, Qi Xiangyu, Zhang Xinjie, and Yu Ziang became members of the men's team, and Liu Qingyi, Zeng Yingying, Zheng Ziyan, and Peng Ying became members of the women's team.
According to the relevant person in charge of the China DanceSport Federation, in the past, Chinese athletes participated in international competitions and used the names of training teams or foreign training teams. This is the first truly national breakdancing team.
Among the 8 players, Shang Xiaoyu, Qi Xiangyu, Liu Qingyi and Zeng Yingying followed the national breakdance foreign training team in Europe for several months in 2022 for training and competitions.
Among them, Liu Qingyi won the women's breakdance competition championship in the 14th National Games, won several international street dance competitions, and won a silver at the Korean Breakdance World Championships in October 2022.
Earlier, the Social and Sports Center of the General Administration of Sport of China announced the "Paris Olympic and Hangzhou Asian Games Breakdance National Team Selection Method", and the breakdance national team selected 4 players for each men's and women's groups, with 3 regulars and 1 substitute for each group.
A total of two trials will be organized, and the top 4 will be selected to enter the national team based on the scores of the two games.
The first trials were held in Shanghai in late December last year.
Yin Guochen, deputy director of the Social Sports Guidance Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and president of the China Dance Sports Federation, said that this year's World Championships and Asian Games are straight-through competitions, and Chinese players, especially women players, will strive to win a Direct quota.
In addition, in this year's points competition, the 4 members of the national team will form an intra-team competition. After each points competition, the athlete with the lowest score (if not in the top 16) will be replaced by the fourth place in the next points competition Replacement, in order to promote the players to continue to train hard and make breakthroughs, so as to achieve the goal of participating in the Olympic Games.
As a new Olympic event, the breakdancing event of the Paris Olympic Games is divided into men's and women's groups, each with 16 entries. In addition to the 6 places that go directly to Paris, the International Olympic Committee will select 40 men and women each based on points and rankings. Enter the qualifying round, and organize three Olympic qualifying rounds from March to June 2024 to determine the remaining 10 places.
