How many people have waited, sometimes in vain, to buy tickets for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France on the Internet (September 8 - October 28)?

The organization of the World Cup proudly indicated, at the beginning of November, that the 2.6 million tickets put on sale had been sold.

Only, according to

Le Parisien

, not everything was done according to the rules of the art.

Relatives of Claude Atcher, former boss of France 2023 since caught up with justice, would have benefited from largesse.

Sébastien Chabal, ex-star of the XV of France and ambassador of the World Cup, would have thus obtained a hundred tickets.

As for Henri Mioch, champion of France with Béziers (1977, 1978, 1980, 1981), he would have simply recovered 600 tickets, after having paid more than 100,000 euros.

This close friend of Atcher, a former employee of the FFR but not of France 2023, is also at the head with his son of a company specializing in events, which resells packs for rugby matches (tickets, meals... ).

The investigation by the research section of the Paris gendarmerie, opened after several searches carried out on November 9, in particular at the headquarters of the organizing committee of the World Cup, is not yet complete and will have to determine whether there may have been other abuses.

A quota greatly exceeded

Le Parisien

indicates that employees of France 2023 can only buy a maximum of eight single tickets, with a ban on resale, compared to six single tickets for the general public.

A source quoted by the daily indicates that a traffic of tickets is "no doubt".

The scheme could consist in buying a very coveted seat, adding some services to resell it to companies: “From a ticket with a face value of 300 euros, you easily obtain a nice product which is worth 1,500” , assures an interlocutor of the

Parisian

.
