• For the first time in its history, the Coupe de France will be broadcast this season on BeIN Sports, from the 32nd finals, which take place from Friday to Sunday.

  • 31 of the 32 matches will be offered in full on the various BeIN Sports channels, including some between amateur clubs.

  • 20 Minutes

interviewed National 2 or National 3 clubs this week, which will be highlighted as rarely by a channel which broadcast the World Cup in Qatar last month.

Discovering this week the existence of Olympic Oats Chinon Cinais (AOCC) caused us a little tingle.

And yes, who says epiphany says return of the Coupe de France.

But this season, the revolution is almost as crazy as a World Cup stalled at the end of autumn: BeIN Sports will broadcast 31 of the 32 posters of the weekend, and therefore not only the professional clubs.

Finished the classic scheme for this competition accustomed to seeing its 100% Ligue 1 clashes programmed on Eurosport and France 2/France 3 (which will only offer the Hyères-OM match, Saturday at 3.30 p.m.) and, alongside more bucolic posters, inviting on France 3 Regions, or quite simply outside television.

However, the secretary general of our famous AOCC, located between Angers and Tours and current leader of his National 3 group, does not jump to the ceiling before his meeting against Vierzon FC (N2), Sunday (6 p.m.) on BeIN Sports Max 10. “Apart from the hassle, it doesn’t bring us much so far, so spontaneously lets go Alain Retail.

We are asked to provide a gondola for the BeIN Sports cameras, although we are a small club, with only volunteers.

A sponsor will finally lend us this, but we had to multiply the phone calls for a month to meet the needs of the broadcaster.

Already we have to go over a 50-page protocol from the FFF.

"It's a source of pride and a great reward"

But the leader is still aware of "the beautiful image" that provides the club with a broadcast on BeIN, which will therefore be present at the Marcel-Vignaud stadium in Avoine (Indre-et-Loire).

And this even if there will be no journalist / consultant on site, since most of these 32nd finals will be commented on in the cabin, at the headquarters of the chain.

On the other hand, there will be two cameras on these amateur grounds, for a device that BeIN Sports journalist Laurent Bidot recognizes as “very basic”.

"I sincerely believe that the first round of 32 of the Coupe de France in the history of our club would not have been broadcast without this new contract with BeIN", notes Alain Retail, who does not believe that this BeIN showcase, live and in full, could have a negative influence on the ticketing of the stadium, where 1,500 spectators are expected.

President of FC Chamalières (Puy-de-Dôme), which challenges Bourges on Sunday (3:30 p.m.) for a meeting between National 2 clubs relocated to a field adjoining Clermont Foot, Jérôme Valeyre savors this new broadcast: "Being honored this way on BeIN Sports [Max 7], it surprised us and it can be very interesting for our partners”.

With one ball, at the end of the draw for the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France, FC Chamalières, one of the smallest budgets of N2, could have inherited PSG.

Even without the ultra-mediatization of the match of a lifetime against the Parisian ogre, the Auvergne club will have to prepare to go on BeIN Sports.

We are used to seeing the Champions League, the World Cup, or a Real-Barça on BeIN, and certainly not us, smiles Kévin Pradier, coach of FC Chamalières.

It is a source of pride and a great reward for all our volunteers.

Broadcasting on such a prestigious channel will only amplify positive pressure for Sunday.

I thought we would be present in the multiplex, no more.

This retransmission in full, it is extraordinary, even if it will be necessary to try to hide this context as much as possible.

“A big first in my life”

Apart from the former professional defender of Clermont, Dijon and Nancy Jordan Lotiès (38), the entire workforce of FC Chamalières will have to digest this unprecedented media context as well as possible.

This is also what awaits Vincent Louve, captain of Avoine Olympique Chinon Cinais.

“It will be a great first in my life to have my match on television, smiles the 27-year-old central defender, a temporary worker in the world of early childhood outside the field.

When we see the installations for television on Sunday, we will undoubtedly feel a little particular pressure.

But it is a great step forward for amateur football.

And then, it can necessarily offer great visibility to our young players, why not be spotted by higher level clubs.

Those of Stade Plabennécois (N3) and Vannes OC (N2) may feel injured, since they will be the only ones not to be broadcast on television, but on the BeIN Sports site, due to the seven channels already mobilized simultaneously during the multiplex on Saturday (6 p.m.).

“It does not disappoint me, however, because I thought that our match would be drowned in a multiplex, and certainly not in its entirety, even if it is on the Internet, assures Michel Pommelec, the president of Plabennec.

On the contrary, it may encourage some of our supporters to brave possibly hostile weather to come to the stadium [capacity of 2,700 seats], as they will not be able to see us on television.

Finally, how is this great plunge into the amateur world experienced at the same time by BeIN Sports,

"I'm going to go fishing for information"

"It's always very good news to have new rights, especially when they make it possible to register more in French football, after Ligue 2, by going to its base", appreciates Laurent Bidot, who will comment on Stade Pontivyen (N3)-Vendée Les Herbiers (N2), Sunday (6 p.m.) on BeIN Sports Max 9, from the headquarters of the channel.

Moreover, even if we are talking about the finalist of the 2018 edition of the event, does such a poster without a Ligue 1 club require special preparation for each journalist, who will then not be accompanied by a consultant?

Our French Cup file

“I take it as a new challenge, explains Laurent Bidot.

Yes, I am going to go fishing for information by calling the clubs, in particular to correctly pronounce the names of these players that we do not know.

“Main difference between these clashes between N2-N3 clubs and a Real-Barça: there will therefore only be two cameras per stadium this weekend, against around twenty for a Classico.

Or for our possible summit between Avoine Olympique Chinon Cinais and FC Chamalières, on April 29 during the final at the Stade de France.
