In a three-on-three game, Chaz Lucius took advantage of Swedish passivity and lifted a backhand behind Carl Lindbom.

With 2.13 left, Leo Carlsson went out for a clear tripping.

On the power play, the USA made it 7-6, the puck was pushed in with many players around the cage, and after video review, Cutter Gauthier's goal was allowed.

However, it did not break Sweden.

With the goalie out, Filip Bystedt equalized at 7-7 with 22 seconds left in an open goal after the puck bounced right in play with the goalie out.

Sweden once led in the goal celebration

At the beginning of the third period, Noah Östlund made it 6-5, the first time that Sweden took the lead, after being allowed to turn up behind the goal undisturbed.

USA's new goalkeeper Kadian Mbereko had to find the back of the net after just four minutes.

The USA equalized at 6-6 when Luke Hughes fell but was still able to get the puck in behind the surprised Carl Lindbom.

When the second period was about to end when Sweden dug deep and scored two quick goals.

First, Milton Oscarsson found the puck that had fallen behind goalkeeper Trey Augustine and poked it in 5-4.

Then Liam Öhgren pushed hard and caught Augustine's clearance and spot-kicked 5-5 from a tight angle from the left.

26 seconds passed between the goals.

It was the ninth goal of the period, a difficult goal explosion in front of packed doctors in Halifax.

Picked up two two-goal deficits

The match was tied at 3-3 in the second period, most believed, after a strong Swedish push from 3-1.

Cutter Guathier then shot the puck in high for 4-3 for the USA when the Swedish team was pulled apart.

Shortly after that, Chaz Lucius slotted right through a stagnant Swedish defense and pulled within 5-3.

Sweden looked to have lost the game when Chaz Luciuz made it 3-1 for the USA early in the second period when he was clinical on a free kick – this just after Liam Öhgren burned a free kick that Trey Augustine saved with the shin guard.

But just over a minute later, Oskar Pettersson dragged the puck with him on the left side, dribbled in the rim, and found one of the upper meshes in the net for 3-2.

Two minutes after that, Sweden took advantage of a gross carelessness in the American zone and Leo Carlsson was able to score 3-3.

Then Sweden was really on the move, but it would swing many more times.
