Djurgården, who finished tenth in the women's league in 2022, have signed defender Matilda Plan on a two-year contract.

She is thus leaving Eskilstuna United, which she has represented her entire football career.

- This feels great and it will be cool to get started.

I've only been to Eskilstuna before, so it should be fun with a new challenge and to come to such a big association as Djurgården.

I hope that I can be involved and lift the team even higher up the table, she says.

Playing in Eskilstuna was not an option after the forced relegation.

- I felt that I don't want to play in the Elitetta, but I want much more with my football.

So that Djurgården showed interest was very positive for me.

Sporting director Jean Balawo believes that Plan, who has ten U23 caps to his credit, will contribute in many ways.

- It's great that we get such a quality player as Matilda.

We believe she will contribute both on and off the field as she brings a lot of experience, he says.

Plan was previously also a big star in bandy and has won SM gold with Västerås, but from 2020 she will focus solely on soccer.
